Preparing PDF files on a Mac

The following is a list of instructions to prepare a Adode PDF (Portable Document Format) file to send to Style. This is also a preferred method as it makes sure all fonts and images are included in the file. Below is a list of steps involved in creating a PDF file.

1 - Do you have Adobe Distiller

Creating a PDF requires you have a version of Abobe Acrobat 4 or above. To purchase the software visit the Adobe site to find out who stocks it.

2 - Create a postsript file

For instructions to create a postscript see "Create Mac Postscript"

3 - Turn postscript file into PDF

Now that you’ve made a PostScript file, it’s not much harder to turn it into a PDF if you have Acrobat Distiller, which comes as part of the full Acrobat package and is sometimes included with software like PageMaker.

When creating a PDF using Acrobat Distiller ensure you select the job option for "press optimized" which will give us the best quality file to output from.

Providing us with a file which does not have the settings for "press" selected can result a low resolution therefore lower quality output.

PDF files can not be accepted for use with our Large Format printer. Eg paper sizes over "SRA3" (Oversize A3)

3 - Sending files to Style

We accept digital files in various ways click here to find out more.
