Preparing Postscript files on a Mac
The following is a list of instructions to prepare a postscript file to send to Style. This is our preferred method as it makes sure all fonts and images are included in the file. Below is a list of steps involved in creating a postscript file.
At Style we have three PPD files, one for each different type of device we have.
- "Style_Press_PPD" Printer setup for full colour press download
- "Style_Digital_PPD" Printer setup for in-house digital printers download
- "Style_Largeformat_PPD" Printer setup for large format inkjet to A0 size download
You have an option to download one or all PPD's as Compressed file. download
Place the “Style” PPD file (downloaded above) into the ‘Printer Descriptions’ folder, which is located on your hard disk in System Folder > Extensions. Setting up the final part of the Virtual Printer must be done the first time you use it.
At the time of writing these instructions the latest AdobePS driver is availiable from Adobe Downloads
Some programs (such as PageMaker and QuarkXPress) let you specify the PPD you want to use in the print dialog box see diagram attached of selecting a PPD in QuarkXPress (Note selecting the PPD give you the valid page sizes for our printers), however for programs that don’t have this feature there is another procedure to follow. For our example, we will use Claris Works.
